I’m excited about this new book by Kate Kordsmeier from Root and Revel which will be released January 2nd. Healthy smoothies is how I justify eating the rich foods I cook. I just love the sweet way in which I can get a bunch of my vegetable and superfood nutrition in a drink. It’s quicker than making a salad or some other nutritious awesome meal. It’s also like drinking a dessert but without the guilt. I get in a rut with my own recipes so I am having fun diving into this book. The first smoothie I made is the Green Detox Smoothie. It really is amazing, even my husband really liked it, and that’s saying something. It was light, refreshing, citrusy with a surprising spicy twist. Better than any smoothie I ever made. It was very satisfying and the flavor combo is really unique with many layers.
My second smoothie from the book is the Green Vegan Protein Smoothie. This creative concoction is made more satiable with the use of a nut butter. I’ve never tried that before and it added another depth to the recipe. Heartier for sure with a subtle nuttiness. It is really different and I really like it.
