IN THIS POST
Pumpkin spice is the flavor profile used in pumpkin pie, an iconic American dessert. Easy to make and full of nostalgia, I am surprised I haven’t tried this before.
Sometimes a ‘special treat’ sneaks into my life and slowly becomes a habit. Something that I indulge in ‘just because’ or ‘I deserve it, I have worked extra hard lately’. Those special treats are like a mini retreat, a way to reward myself.
A friend of mine talked me into downloading the Starbucks app.
“You can get extra rewards and free drinks” – he said.
That sounded splendid to me. I like Starbucks. I indulge in a special treat once in awhile I might as well get extra rewards and free drinks.
The app has an interesting feature. It deducts money from your bank account in $25 increments when you purchase items. When you look at your bank statement, you can actually see how much you are spending at Starbucks.
Oh. My. Gosh.
I had no idea that special treat that I indulged in once in awhile was really a habit I developed. It happened slowly, I didn’t even realize.
Starbucks is a great, American institution. I will continue to treat myself at Starbucks but I am now more mindful of my spending habits at coffee shops.
Why am I sharing this story?
I am on a quest to develop different habits that aren’t so expensive. Habits that are more frugal, with less waste and packaging. This pumpkin spice mix is the beginning. It’s great in coffee and I want to share my 2 minute Pumpkin Spice Latte invention with you.
Enjoy friends.
