A slightly spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate that will warm your soul on a cold day.
A mildly spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate that will warm your soul on the coldest days. Sipping this little gem was a highlight to my day, I’m simple like that. Make this in a snap with a little help from mi abuelita.
I have a confession, I don’t really have a Mexican grandmother, I have adopted this lady though…
She’s almost as cute as my grandmother. I was actually stocking up on Latin American cooking essentials at a Super Mercado run down in Provo. In a moment of weakness, on a cold day (it was 35F), I purchased adopted mi abuelita. I kissed this hot chocolate drink with a pinch of cayenne and a cinnamon stick as an homage to the Spicy Monkey Mocha from Monkey Nest Cafe in Austin. If you are ever in town, seek it out on Burnet Road, you’re welcome. This drink is pretty good without the ‘kisses’ if you are so inclined. My package is half the size of the one above and came with 6 ‘tablets’. Each tablet makes 4 cups of hot chocolate.
